When I first started watching Bones, I couldn't get enough, but now it has blossomed into a love affair with ups and downs, tears and laughter. I want to share all the good and the bad times with those of you who have watched maybe one or two episodes, but you're not sure what it is about. In the next few posts I will be sharing all the seasons with you - hope you enjoy and come to love them as I do.
SEASON 1
EPISODE 1 - 'Pilot'
This is where we are first introduced to some of the main characters of the story. At the very first change he gets, Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) lets his sneaky side be shown by getting airport security and home affairs to detain Dr Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel)so that he can get her to work on a case with him. They work on a case together where a body was found in a lake - turning out to be the body of a state senators' intern and lover. Brennan wants to be part of the field case and blackmails Booth to let her work out in the field with him - one of the first moments we have between B&B.
We are also introduced to Dr Brennan's forensic team, who Booth calls the "squints" because they squint at the computers and bones to find clues. The tension element between B&B is highlighted by the fact that he starts calling her "Bones" and she insists that he stop (so fun).
Booth cannot believe how Bones could "see" that the young woman that was killed could have played tennis just by looking at her bones, and convinces his boss to let Bones work with him on cases permanently.
Bones also confronts the killer and shoots him in the leg. We also learn that Booth was a sniper with the Army Rangers and Bones' parents disappeared when she was 15.
Here are s9me juicy tidbits from the episode:
B&B Moments
Booth: Temperance, partners share things. Builds trust.
Brennan: Since when are we partners?
Booth: I apologize for the assumption.
Booth: What's it going to take?
Brennan: Full participation in the case.
Booth: Fine.
Brennan: Not just lab work. Everything.
Booth: What? You want me to spit in my hand? We're Scully and Mulder.
Brennan: I don't know what that means.
Booth: He's got no sense of discretion, that kid. Typical squint.
Brennan: I don't know what that means.
Booth: When cops get stuck we bring in people like you, ya know? Squints, you know, squint at things.
Brennan: Oh you mean people with very high IQs and basic reasoning skills?
Bones to Booth: Your hypothesis is that squints don't solve murders and cops do, prove it, be a cop.
Booth to Bones: As a sniper I took a lot of lives, before I'm done I would like to catch at least that many murderers.
Booth: You know, you being a good shot, doing martial arts, it's all your way of dealing. I mean, who knows better than you how fragile life can be.
Brennan: Maybe an Army Ranger sniper who became an FBI homicide investigator.
After Bones was chewed out by Booth's boss:
Booth: You ok?
Brennan: Don't be nice to me after I got you in trouble.
Booth: Your heart was in the right place.
Brennan: No. I'm not a heart person, you're a heart person. I'm a brain person. You vouched for me.
Booth: Forget it.
Brennan: No, I won't.
